Assigned to the Surface-to-Air Guided Weapons (SAGW) Division, he was selected for advanced induction training abroad on a state-of-the-art missile system. Palanivel devised a modification to the guidance radar circuitry that was implemented nationwide across the Indian Air Force, earning him the Invention Incentive Grant from the Ministry of Defence.

Transitioning from the military, Palanivel moved into the precision world of aerospace manufacturing as a Project Manager at TAAL — setting up a facility for UAV airframe manufacturing for a Defence establishment.
From initial presentation to final product delivery, he managed end-to-end execution against stringent airworthiness quality specifications. The prototype was approved. The client placed repeat orders. TAAL awarded him the Best Partner recognition.
In 1998, Palanivel founded VAKS Online Services as a one-man operation. What followed was two decades of methodical growth into a 45-person organisation serving 65 global clients — including IBM, Intel, HSBC, Wipro, GE, and Alcatel-Lucent.
